BELGRADE (Serbia), November 29 (SeeNews) - GE Renewable Energy, the renewables arm of US conglomerate General Electric (GE), said on Wednesday it signed an agreement with Israeli company Enlight Renewable Energy to provide 38 turbines for the 105 MW Kovacica wind farm in northern Serbia.

GE Renewable Energy will provide its 2.75-120 wind turbine with 110-metre hub heights, while a 15-year full-service agreement is also part of the deal, the company said in a statement.

Once fully commissioned in 2019, Kovacica will become Serbia's third largest wind site, GE Renewable Energy said.

"GE Renewable Energy is determined to help countries reach their renewable energy goals. The Kovacica wind project represents one-fifth of the country's wind capacity targets for 2020 and we are very excited to be part of it," the president and CEO of GE's Onshore Wind Business, Pete McCabe, said in the statement.

The project will provide the entire power consumption for the equivalent of 65,000 households, in addition to creating jobs and boosting Serbia's economic growth, the CEO of Enlight, Gilad Yavetz, said.

Wind turbines for the site will be produced in Europe in the wind facility of GE in Salzbergen, in Germany, with blades manufactured by LM Wind Power in Spain and Poland.

GE Renewable Energy recently announced it would also provide turbines for Cibuk 1, Serbia's future largest wind farm, which is also located in the northeEast of the country.

In September, Erste Bank Serbia, which co-finances the project, said Enlight Renewable Energy plans to invest 189 million euro ($223.9 million) in the construction of the wind farm.
